Now, TotBL has gotten loads of quasi followers ever since Jon Nödtveidt (of Dissection) was released from jail, reformed Dissection and the took his own life. In some way alo of people seem to think this is "the real deal", "real satanism" etc. Not so weird maybe considering the attitudes among alot of black metal fans in regards to music being "true" or "cult" or whatever.
Now I came into contact with Satanism long before I knew about TotBL (or MLO as they were known as) so naturally I have a different perspective. Alot different even. After seeing another blog link to Jason Kings you tube videos I remembered that I myself stumbled across his stuff a month ago or so. He has a video on TotBL which essentially reflects my views on them as well. I wouldnt have expressed myself quite like him but the critique is essentially the same. He however gives no time to their faulty use of Kali for example. TotBL's version of Kali is really only one third of her original meaning in hindu and tantric tradition and its a pretty laughable conclusion TotBL does in regards to her. And if they wanna reinterpret the old myths to something barely recognizable why not just make up new names for the god you wish to revere? The same thing goes for their interpretation of Set.

What is authentic Satanism?
As for the LHP, what it is and what it is not is a way to big topic to be discussed like this. Actually since there is no single beginning for the use of the term things become much harder to decipher.
I would argue that in hinduism and buddhism the left hand path and right hand path are two paths to the same goal, namely to realize the ultimate. The hindu version is probably the oldest source of the term.
It did become something that was opposed to eachother but Im not sure when that happened. Maybe it was with Blavatsky (sp?). I think alot of the Satanism movement has reinforced this idea. LaVey kind of did, the temple of set for sure do and other groups as well (such as TotBL).
I wont declare what authentic satanism is. I think it is silly to talk of religion in those terms. I was always opposed to the church of satans attitude when they spoke of "true satanism" and "pseudo satanism". Unfortunately they arent the exception but rather the rule. Everyone wants to declare their satanism the one and only "true satanism".
I have discussed this before and my opinion is quite clear. Satanism like any religion is a great mosaic made up by more or less thought through systems of thought. Some work well together and others are so far away from eachother one cant even believe they use the same terms.
Now, I have my problems with all major branches of Satanism but TotBL is by far the group that has the least amount of substance to it. Both in their goals and in their reinterpretation of myths (or should I say distortion of myths?). Why dont they just create something entirely new instead of trying to justify how a godess such as Kali would ever stand for what they claim she stands for?
Now the idea of linking Satan to chaos is very interesting. However for me personally I think they misinterpret chaos and its relation to order. Maybe Im just way more easters and TotBL is still descartian and dual in alot of ways.

hindu isnt the oldest form, the "church of satan" anton levay shit isnt satanism it is a false form of occultism and is easily a load of bullshit, true satanist, like ToTBL follows goes way before any religion thats why u reconize gods such as set or kali because the egypotians and hindus got them from the satanists....

I havent been here in a long while now but saw a new comment I thought would be worthy to reply to.
Now the terms "left hand path" and "right hand path" does come from hindu and buddhist tantra. If you know the older origin of the concepts please point me in the direction. Besides the TotBL uses the term LHP and RHP in a way that has few connections with the original concepts especially in terms of the ultimate goal of the paths (which in tantra are the same for the LHP and the RHP).
TotBL is ecclectic for sure and uses different gods from different parts and ages of the world. The problem is that they only focus on some of the aspects that suit their on system. As I've said before in the case of Kali they only use one third of her role in hinduism. They only focus on the destructive aspect despite her being the godess who gives birth to the world (or the world emanates through her). She is also this worlds nurturer. And then of course the destroyer. This is so because hinduism often is non-dualistic in total opposition to TotBL wo are very much western and very much dualistic in their worldview.
Oh so you try to make a claim that hindus and egyptians got their gods from satanists? Really, how stupid are you? Have you ever don research into the origins of Satanism? The term can be traced back to the 1700's and some Satanism back to the 1800's but not much longer than that. There have always been people with ideas close to current phenomenons and religions but they are generally called inspirational sources and not Satanists in their own right.
Why you bring up LaVey I dont know. My opinion on him is that he was smarter than his average opposer thinks but also that he was alot less smart than his average follower thinks. Im not LaVeyan.
And really anyone who claims to be a true anything shouldnt be worth the time and effort because they can never explain why they are true without bringing out the dreaded circle argument. What is true? Why is it true? How did it come to be like that? Who defines what truth is?
Now go back and study instead of listening to your Watain records and reading Nemesis books and then when you've done enough research you can come back and tell me about the orgins of satanism, of the left hand path and indeed what truth is.
Im especially interested in your sources that the LH didnt originate from hindu tantra as well as the laughable notion that the egyptian and indian cultures gor their gods from satanists :D
